I'm getting married! - More Details

Friend links

Thursday, June 01, 2006 11:25 PM

Ian has been pestering me for the past week or so to get some links up on my site pointing to his. Rightfully so, as he was quick to add a link back this direction. I've been busy doing non-website development over the past week though, so I'm just now getting around to doing it.

I've added to the sidebar links to my friends. Now, before anyone comments, it's not like I only have 4 friends - rather, only 4 friends with blogs/websites. AAAnywho....

Marlina - The obligatory link to the girlfriend's website. More pictures and commentary on our personal lives over there.

Ian - He's just getting started with his site, and is already putting out some great content. His stuff is in PHP, but I plan to provide the ASP.NET alternatives to the things he puts out, and visa versa. Could be interesting.

Noah Korba - My old roommate & fellow super nerd from college. Aparently he's inspired by yours truly to get going on his site again. I'm excited to see more. Where's the RSS feed Noah?!?!

Mikero - A com sci & music friend of mine from college. We haven't talked in a long time, but I certainly still follow his blog. He takes some pretty cool pictures.. check 'em out. Mike also needs an RSS feed for his blog.

Well, that's all I've got for now. If you'd like to be included, do let me know... I've been pushing for some time now for other friends of mine *cough* *zink* *cough* to start blogging. Hopefully they will sometime soon.

'Bout damn time... now, if we could just get ourselves out of the bars, and in front of the keyboards, we could write some kick-ass content.

I like the three plugs I got... I think our first project should be to smatter links to each other in pointless and random places all over our sites... that should get the page rank up!

Good day sir.

I think I'll make my blog with ruby on rails!
Dusty
Zink,

Yeah, however it's implemented, just do it! One thing that I struggled with for TOO LONG was in the actual implementation. Should I use Community Server? Should I write my own? What's it going to look like? Blah blah blah.

I failed to realize that it has more to do with the content than the actual site itself.

My suggestion would be to go to WordPress, or wherever, and get yourself a blog. Or get some cheap hosting, and a domain, and set it up like that.

I suppose, on the flip side, rolling-your-own would have the added advantage of being able to tinker with Ruby on Rails, for example. But, maybe that's better left to other side projects...

And now the thing you're struggling with for TOO long is posting some damn content! How are we supposed to become prominent members of the developer community if you don't post anything?
Noah
rss feed? what's that? :) i put one on wes's gallery, but had to stop development on my journal until my schedule stopped being so crazy. which was today in fact...
